Trex Company is the world’s largest manufacturer of high-performance wood-alternative decking and railing, with nearly 30 years of product experience. The #1 brand in outdoor living is proud to be named to Forbes’ 2021 List of America’s Best Mid-Size Companies and to Fortune magazine’s 2020 list of the world’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies. Stocked in more than 6,700 retail locations worldwide, Trex outdoor living products offer a wide range of style options with fewer ongoing maintenance requirements than wood, as well as a truly environmentally responsible choice.

The Need

Due to increasing product demand, GLS was engaged by Trex Company to identify a new production location focused on the Central U.S. market and supply chains. Site technical requirements as well as the ability to recruit a strong pool of qualified labor were key project drivers.

The Solution

After aligning on the project’s priorities and site requirements, the site search spanned across eight states. The analysis considered quality, cost, and risk metrics throughout the evaluation. GLS led the company team on multiple site visits to delve into workforce, utilities, logistics, due diligence, and incentive negotiations in more detail. In October 2021, Trex Company announced Little Rock, Arkansas as the location for its third, and potentially largest, U.S. manufacturing site.
