Getting Your Sites Into GLS' Site Database

Over the past 50 years, Global Location Strategies (GLS) has evaluated thousands of sites for our clients.  We have evaluated sites for all types of projects, from lighter distribution centers to heavy industrial ethane cracker facilities.

Utilizing sites submitted to GLS over the past decade, our team built an extensive site database. This database has not only been effective for use during our site evaluation process, but it has also proven to be invaluable prior to kicking off a site selection project.

Before we release an RFI to economic developers, we utilize our site database for a couple of purposes.

  • Purpose #1: Location Benchmarking
    • Sometimes our clients want to understand the potential sites that might be available to them, along with associated costs, prior to beginning a more formal site selection effort. We utilize our site database in the benchmarking process to compare potential sites.
  • Purpose #2: Understand Available Sites
    • We use our site database to determine the likely number of sites we may receive from a state or region. If a site in our database seems like a good fit for a project, but it is not submitted by the responding economic development group, we may seek to understand why the site was not submitted. This process helps us ensure we are conducting as thorough a site search as possible.

Submitting Your Sites

We hope you will consider submitting your sites to be entered into our site database for future consideration and evaluation in our site selection efforts. There is no cost to submit your site and you can sumbit as many sites as you would like. Each site must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently marketed
  • 50 acres or more
  • Targeted for industrial development

If you are a state or regional economic development group (including rail and utility organizations), we ask that you coordinate with the local economic development group on your submission. This will help guarantee that only one organization is completing the entry for the site.

Please complete the Site Submission Request (link) to begin your site submission process. You will receive an automated response (on-screen following your submission and/or by email) with instructions to complete your submission. Once you receive the link to the site submission, please follow additional instructions listed below.

If you encounter any difficulties or have any questions please contact Andrew Ratchford at andrewratchford@globallocationstrategies.com.

Economic Development Resources:

GLS offers various economic development services designed to leverage our experience, knowledge, and technology to launch each community toward investment-readiness. We offer various products and service stacks to meet your community's requirements. Our offerings are listed in the Economic Development Solutions Booklet below.

Site visits are one of the most important opportunities for a community to compete for a site selection project. Communities that proactively develop their site's information, team, and communication strategy can maximize their site's chances for selection. GLS has provided "mock" site visits in person as well as online for years to help communities maximize their chances for success. We are now making this process easier than ever.
