Based in Houston, TX, Nacero Inc. is bringing a new gasoline to market, one that is made from natural gas and renewable natural gas, not crude oil. The Company plans to build production facilities where it can create environmental and economic benefits for its consumers, host communities, commercial counterparties, and shareholders. Founded in 2015, Nacero is led by a team with more than 500 years of combined successful large project experience across power, renewables, LNG, fuels, and chemicals.
The Need
From 2019 to 2020, GLS assisted a Nacero with identifying suitable sites for its processing facilities. The company plans to have several processing facilities across the United States and wanted to identify properties within various areas of interest. Each facility will be a multi-billion-dollar investment. Access to abundant natural gas as well as rail service were key project drivers for the site identification.
The Solution
Using our internal site database as well as outreach to economic development organizations, GLS identified over 120 properties. A fatal flaw analysis was conducted for each site, and those properties that passed were prioritized for the client. Nacero announced a processing facility in Penwell, TX that will employ 350 full-time personnel and produce a cleaner gasoline for automobiles, as well as utilize carbon dioxide capture, furthering the environmental story of the company.
All of the plant’s electricity will come from renewable sources, much of which will be produced on-site from solar panels co-located with the manufacturing facilities on Nacero’s 2,600 acre site. The plant will be the first in the US to make gasoline from natural gas and the first in the world to do so with carbon capture and sequestration. Sequestered CO2will be transported via an existing on-site pipeline. Construction is slated to begin in Penwell before the end of 2021.
