The Need
Entergy Mississippi, a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation, had two mega sites (500+ acres) located within their territory in northern Mississippi that they had been marketing for large manufacturing projects. In order to further analyze their sites and determine how to make them more competitive, Entergy hired GLS to perform a Site Audit. The purpose of the site audits was to provide a holistic assessment of the site and community (utilities, transportation infrastructure, workforce, etc.), deliver a SWOT analysis, and evaluate due diligence activities that had been completed.
The Solution
The GLS team conducted site visits that included meetings with state and local economic developers, utility providers, and local employers. Following a desktop and in-person review of the site and community, the GLS team analyzed each site's competitiveness for different industries and compared them to competitor locations . GLS recommended specific action items that could be conducted that would make the sites more competitive for targeted manufacturing projects.
